Short answer: The Blue Cash Everyday and Blue Cash Preferred both pay 3% at U.S. gas stations (the Everyday on up to $6,000 a year, then 1%). The U.S. Bank Cash+ lets you choose gas stations and EV charging as a quarterly category. A flat 2% card is the fallback for gas bought anywhere.

How much does 3% on gas add up to?
At $200 a month on gas, 3% earns $72 a year and 2% earns $48, a $24 difference. Gas rewards matter most when combined with a strong grocery or everyday rate on the same card.

Frequently asked questions
What's the best no-annual-fee card for gas?
Among cards we checked on Oct 29, 2026, the Blue Cash Everyday pays 3% at U.S. gas stations on up to $6,000 a year in purchases, then 1%, with no annual fee.
Do warehouse club gas stations count as gas stations?
It depends on how the merchant is coded and on the card's terms. Check your issuer's rewards terms; a flat 2% card earns the same everywhere.
